By day I am a wildlife veterinarian and by night I transform my passion for the natural world into art.

I live a life painted in bold, vibrant strokes. By day, I work as a wildlife veterinarian, tending to injured hawks, orphaned fox kits, and the occasional wayward black bear. By night, I transform my passion for the natural world into art, my studio filled with artwork that embodies the raw beauty of the outdoors. My home, nestled in the forested outskirts of a small riverside cottage, is a reflection of my dual loves: brushes and paints on one side, wildlife field guides and medical supplies on the other.
As a child, I would wander through the woods near my childhood home, collecting feathers, sketching trees, and pretending I was a woodland healer. I was determined that I would be both an artist and a veterinarian, no matter how unconventional the combination might seem.
My veterinary work has frequently brought me face-to-face with the harsh realities of the wild. One spring, I spent weeks rehabilitating a barred owl that had been caught in a barbed wire fence. The bird had arrived terrified and injured, but patience and gentle care slowly won the bird’s trust. When the owl finally soared back into the open dusky sky, I captured the moment in a painting that now hangs prominently in my studio.
In my downtime, I embrace another passion: Renaissance Faires. I adore the whimsy and escapism of donning a flowing gown, wielding a wooden staff, and strolling through makeshift medieval villages. The Renaissance Faires are more than a hobby for me—they are a source of creativity. The vibrant costumes, theatrical performances, and immersive atmosphere ignite my imagination. I often return from a faire with a sketchbook full of ideas, combining the fantastical with the natural. My artwork features fairies perched alongside towering mushrooms, or stags with antlers intertwined with flowering vines, inspired by the fairytale-like ambiance of the Faires. The events remind me that creativity is boundless, fueled by the intersection of history, mythology, and the natural world.
I always try to find time for outdoor adventures. Whether it is hiking to a hidden waterfall, kayaking through tranquil rivers, or camping under a star-filled sky, I draw inspiration and life from these experiences for both my art and veterinary work. My friends often joke that I am part woodland sprite, part knight in shining armor—a protector of the natural world in every sense.
I have always believed that art and science are two sides of the same coin—both ways of understanding and honoring the world around me.
My life is a tapestry woven from my many passions, each thread as vibrant as the next. Whether healing the wounded, capturing the wild through my art, or stepping into the past at a Renaissance Faire, I live each day with purpose and joy. For me, that the greatest masterpiece of all.
